The government of Tuvalu has approved of the outcomes of the demonstration farm managed in cooperation with Taiwan. To date, the area of the farm has increased five-fold, but due to land limitations in Funafuti (about 2.6 square kilometers), there is no more vacant land that the government could provide through which to expand the scale of cultivation at the site. With the long distances between Tuvalu’s eight outer islands and the uncertain schedule of transport ships, the emphasis of agricultural extension activities was originally focused on the capital. The largest outer island, Vaitupu (home to about 20 percent of the population), has been unable to receive the benefits of the crops provided by the demonstration farm. THE SMARTEST THING A SMART TV COULD DO, WAS BEING ABLE TO HELP SAVE A COUNTRY By registering www.lgsmart.tv we found out that “.tv” does not mean television. It is the domain of a country that could disappear as a result of climate change. The smartest thing a Smart TV could do was to help. In order to do this, we created an app with exclusive content and, by using every one of our TVs as a go-between, we told the world about Tuvalu’s plight. From the app, it was also possible to send a petition to the U.N. through change.org. Whenever someone signed it, the petition was sent directly to the secretary in charge of global warming and requesting priority for Tuvalu’s predicament. Ship registration is the process by which a ship is documented and given the nationality of the country to which the ship has been documented. The nationality allows a ship to travel internationally as it is proof of ownership of the vessel. International law requires that every merchant ship be registered in a country, called its flag state. Ship registration is similar to a person receiving a passport. A ship is bound to the law of its flag state. It is usual to say that the ship sails under the flag of the country of registration. This video is targeted to blind users. In 2016, the UNWTO listed Tuvalu as the least visited countries in the World. Many of the leisure tourists only went to check it off their list so they can say they have visited all countries in the World. The Travel Professor found only a few 'attractions' but a country with a rich culture and untouched environment. I also talk to Noa from the Library and show a fatele, the national dance, being performed at the end of the video.
